Hi! I’m Alex, and thanks for visiting Eating at Altitude. I’m a 30 year old Iowa native living in my soul state of Colorado with my boyfriend, Will. By day, I am the Director of Client Relations for a credit card company and by night I am a foodie, Iowa State Cyclone basketball fanatic, Netflix binger, puzzle queen and am constantly on the search for my best life through reading, fitness, cooking & travel.
I love food, I love to eat it, cook it, experience, you name it- if it involves food, sign me up! And it’s my love for food that caused my life to do a total 360 a few years ago. The condensed version of this story includes me graduating college 40 lbs heavier than I started, and while I struggled in a body I did not recognize I turned to numerous diets and weightloss programs in an effort to lose the extra pounds. There were high & low points and the realization that I was likely doomed to a life of dieting, restrictions and fitness in order to be happy with my weight. Fast forward 4 years: Hello Whole30. I dove right in and by the end of the 30 days I was a new person. It was at this point that I realized food was the door to opportunity. It started with Whole30, which led to better sleep and being well rested made it easier for me to workout on a daily basis and reach my fitness goals. The better sleep and fitness helped me find some mental clarity which led to excelling at my job and I received a promotion. The promotion placed me in a position that I love. I no longer feel the need to come home and drown my work sorrows and stress with a glass of wine which has given me a lot of free time to explore other hobbies and that is how Eating at Altitude was born. I think everyone deserves their best life, and changing my diet is what got me to mine. I’m only 30, so not so say “I’ve done it all” but now I know the possibilities are endless and you should too.
