About Me

Hi! I’m Alex, and thanks for visiting Eating at Altitude. By day, I am the Director of Client Relations for a payment processing company and by night I am a foodie, new mama, whole30 alum, Iowa State Cyclone basketball fanatic, Netflix binger, and a puzzle queen. And this blog is where I share my love for clean eating, motherhood & healthy life-balancing habits.

Before finding the Whole30 In 2014,  I spent many years as a binge eater & was consumed by diet and exercise in an effort to feel good about my physical appearance.  But after my first round of Whole30  and over the past few years I’ve really found my eating stride by trying (and eliminating) different things. I no longer believe in labeling the way I eat to anything other than intuitive. I eat what makes me feel good.  I’ve found my body and mind are happiest when I’m not eating processed foods, gluten, and dairy; and most importantly when I minimize my sugar intake. My approach to eating has evolved from restricting for weight loss to eating foods that make me feel my best. Not only do I feel better, but my relationship and outlook on food has completely changed. It’s no longer the enemy of how my body looks but more so the fuel that allows me to function at my best. I find balance by knowing that when I’m eating a nourishing diet 80% of the time I can still indulge in my favorite restaurant’s truffle mac and cheese (and many other goodies) without the guilt I use to carry towards my eating habits when I was yo-yo dieting and binge-ing all the time. ⠀

This blog is a reflection of my journey to not only food freedom but also motherhood. It’s a place to share what I eat day to day & also balance managing my family, which includes a newborn- Charlie, our crazy Goldendoodle, Winnie & my gluten & sugar loving husband, Will. I hope you’ll stay a while and become part of the Eating At Altitude Fam, too!
