This post shares all of our family favorites for mama, baby & breastfeeding in the fourth trimester (0-12 weeks).

Postpartum Mama Care

The thing no one talks about: how YOU are going to feel when you arrive home from the hospital. All we know in advance is that we will be coming home with a baby, not that we might have stitches, swollen lady parts and hemoroids. So here my friends are the things I required for my recovery from a vaginal delivery. I can’t speak for C-section mamas, but I’m sure there is some crossover!

Mesh Underwear – These from Frida mom were comfy and secure. Much better than the ones they give you at the hospital. I wore these for 4 weeks. / Frida Mom Upside Down Peri Bottle – They will send you home with a square bottle from the hospital but I liked this one better due to the upside down angle. / Flushable Wipes – Trust me, your butt will thank you. No explanation needed / Sitz Bath Epsom Salts- soaking the lady parts offered enormous amounts of relief in those weeks following delivery. Sitz Bath Spray – Soothing Spray with each diaper change. Your Diaper, not the babies ;). / Medicated Cooling Pads – Cooling pads are great for an instant sense of relief, downstairs. / Ice Pack Pads – Using these ice packs multiple times a day assists with recovery and increases the comfort level of swelling. / Hemorrhoid Cream – The ‘rhoids are real.

Breast Feeding

Haaka Silicone Breast Pump Great to wear while nursing to catch extra milk / Willow Hands Free Breast Pump As a mama who spent some time exclusively pumping, these were a game changer. Totally worth the cost to pump handsfree. / Haaka Breast Shells Another great way to catch extra milk! I wore these while running errands. / Nursing Sleep Bras – the comfiest sleeping bras there ever were! / Honest Nipple Cream Most of the time I was breast feeding & pumping my nipples had seen better days. This Cream saved my sad nips & is also save to use before baby latches / Hands Free Pumping Bras While I did use the Willow Pumps, I also used a Spectra and having a hands free pumping bra is the ONLY option. / Silicone Food Storage containers – I used these to freeze my milk. The pods hold exactly 2 oz. Leaving me with frozen 2 OZ cubes of breast milk, I stored these in a stasher bag after freezing. I also transferred them to a stasher bag in the fridge to thaw overnight before use. / Zip top Milk Storage – Reusable Milk storage bags! Loved these, they have an organizing rack and are dishwasher safe for easy sanitizing! / Boon Lawn Drying System / Bottles – We did use the Dr. Browns bottles and liked them, but ended up switching to the Como Tomo for a silicone, non plastic option.

Baby Products (0-3 months)

Snuggle Me Organic Lounger – This lounger is easy to tote around the house for naps on any surface. We even used it in Charlie’s bassinet during his first weeks of sleep. / Stasher Bags – for diaper bag organization, traveling with pump parts. Etc. / Pacifiers / Heated Diaper Wipe Dispenser – never thought I’d be the mom that treated my baby to a warm bum, but turns out I’m not above it. / Lounge Chair – we kept one of these on both levels of our house. Great for baby to sit & hang out!/ Solly Wrap We LOVED this. It got us through a lot of newborn afternoons and for a week or 2 it was the only thing that would calm Charlie when he was upset! / Hatch Night Light & Sound Machine – 2 in 1! Plus you can set multiple favorite settings & control from your phone! / SwaddleMe Swaddles – we used these from weeks 1-5. / Love to Dream Swaddles – used from weeks 5- present (17 weeks) / Honest Diaper Cream / Mother Love Baby Balm – The ultimate moisturizer! We put it on every night at bed time.
