Okay so I’m back to tracking my macros and I forgot how good it feels to be consistent with it. I took the whole summer off and honestly I needed it — slow summer days with my kids, trips, & no regrets whatsoever 😂 but as end of summer is approaching it felt like the right time to get back into it.
first, a little context
I’m not a macro coach or a nutritionist. I’m just a wellness obsessed mom who started tracking last October and lost almost 10 pounds between October and January by being consistent. When I’m eating in a deficit to lose fat, here are the targets:
- 140g protein
- 60g fat
- 120-160g carbs depending on workout days
- 25g fiber
Which equals out to be between 1600-1700 calories. I’m also doing hormone therapy now and I’m genuinely so curious to see what changes over the next few months with consistent tracking and strength training. more on that another time. okay. here’s the day.
Breakfast
Yogurt Bowls + Chicken Sausage & Collagen Coffee

I chose a low fat, low sugar yogurt with a high protein content + granola is sneaky, I always pre-log it before I pour it so I know exactly how much I can have. This brand has better macros for me than most. For an extra protein boost I add some collagen to my coffee I use Thrive Market collagen peptides frothed right into my coffee. chicken sausage on the side gets the protein up without touching my fat macro too much.
Lunch
Buffalo Dill Pickle Chicken Salad

if you haven’t made this yet please do. cottage cheese base, buffalo sauce, dill pickles, shredded chicken. sounds chaotic, tastes so good. the crackers keep my fat low, the peaches and cucumbers get me fiber without blowing my carbs, and I’m genuinely full for hours after this. obsessed with this lunch right now.
Dinner
Shaved beef fajita tacos + sautéed zucchini

shaved beef, peppers, onions, melted cheese on top. it’s giving Philly cheesesteak taco and I have absolutely no notes. zucchini on the side for fiber and volume.
Snacks + Sweet Treats

- Protein Water
- Fruit Riot candy coated cherries
- gluten free chocolate chip cookie from trader joes
- low fat cottage cheese + kiwi, honey + flaky sea salt
- Gruns Gummies– legit the only way I ever hit my fiber goal for the day.
Cottage cheese is one of the easiest high protein snack that actually tastes like something when you dress it up. kiwi and honey and suddenly it feels like dessert. I take the Gruns gummies every single day and they are genuinely the main reason I consistently hit my fiber numbers.
what’s actually made this feel doable for me
I know tracking sounds overwhelming but here’s honestly what’s helped:
voice noting my plan in the morning. every morning I just voice note into AI what I’m planning to eat and what my movement looks like for the day. it helps me figure out where I’m headed macro-wise before the day even starts so I can adjust before I’m standing in my kitchen after dinner trying to figure out how to hit 40 more grams of protein before bed 😂 it also just helps me think through how to optimize the day without doing math in my head while also running a household and keeping two small humans alive. five minutes in the morning saves my whole brain. I’ve also save to my AI memory, my goals, food priorities, etc.
using AI to build meals and snacks on the fly. this has genuinely been a game changer for me. if I’m short on protein at the end of the day or I need a snack idea that fits what I have left in my macros I just ask and it gives me actual options based on what I have. no more googling “high protein snack under 10g fat” for twenty minutes. I also use it to help me build out new recipes around my macro targets which makes the whole thing feel way less like a diet and way more like just eating food I actually like. Should I share more on this?
logging the sneaky stuff first. granola, dressings, olive oil — these will quietly destroy your fat macro if you’re not paying attention. I log those before anything else.
protein first, always. if I build every meal around the protein source first and everything else just falls into place.
fiber is not optional. 25g a day keeps me full and keeps everything moving and I cannot stress this enough. fruits, veggies, and my Needed gummies are what actually get me there.
