Self Care is somewhat of a buzz word these days, but that doesn’t mean the concept should be lost. Making a commitment to refuel our mind & body on a regular basis is a crucial ingredient when it comes to maintaining a happy, healthy life.
Forms of self care come in all shapes & sizes. And because of that there are all types of practices that we can fit into the nooks & crannies of our daily lives. But here is the thing about self -care. It is a practice that requires you to be somewhat committal. It will not happen unless you intentionally make space for it.
The result is worth it. Taking care of yourself gives you what it takes to give those around you the best version of yourself. So stop what you are doing RIGHT now, and schedule at least one of the below into your schedule tomorrow.
I Don’t Have Time
Don’t use this excuse. As I mentioned above, self care comes in all shapes and sizes. Many of the below can be done in 15 minutes or less. If are using this excuse try these suggestions:
Wake Up Early. Waking up before my family allows me at least 30 minutes to enjoy my morning coffee in silence. Journaling, reading or moving my body are all common activities I will achieve within the first 30 minutes of the day.
Schedule Time. Put time for yourself on the calendar. Just as you would a work meeting & treat it as a non-negotiable event. Now that we are working from home, it’s easy to forego breaks during the work day. Schedule a lunch with yourself. Step away from your laptop & enjoy your meal outside with a podcast or book.
