Over the last few years, I’ve grown an interest in making my own tortillas. I love Siete & other grain free brands on the market but they are pricey. Its low cost, and the only kitchen item that required investing in was a tortilla press (which you can find on Amazon for less than $30).
I started making tortillas with Cassava flour, and am now transitioning to using masa (corn tortillas pictured). I’m curious if you are making your own tortillas, or if you have any interest in learning how to do it. Comment below!
Or just make this recipe, and enjoy these tacos on whatever tortillas you have on hand!
The Most Simple Steak tacos
Ingredients
- 8 grain free tortillas
- 1-1.5 lb skirt or flank steak
- 3 Tbsp avocado or olive oil
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1/4 C cilantro
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 tsp salt
Optional Garnishes
- white or red onion, diced
- cilantro, chopped
- avocado, sliced
- salsa
- jalapeno, diced
- lime
- hot sauce
Instructions
- In a blender add oil, lime juice, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, paprikia, garlic & salt. Blend until smooth.
- Place the steak in a resealable bag or baking dish. Pour the marinade over the steak & marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes up to overnight.
- When ready to eat, Preheat grill to high heat (400-500°) & oil the grates. Grill the steak 3 to 5 minutes per side for medium rare (or 135°) or 4-6 minutes per side for medium (145°). Cooking times may vary based on thickness of steak. Transfer to a cutting board & let rest for 5-7 minutes. Chop into bite size pieces.
- While the steak is cooking I recommend warming your tortillas over an open flame or in a fry pan.
- Serve steak on warm tortillas & top with desired garnishes.
